Depth Oral Colloquium
PADS Depth Oral Colloquium (Schwerpunktkolloquium)
If you would like to do the PADS Depth Oral Colloquium (Schwerpunktkolloquium), please read the following information carefully.
Please note that the PADS focus colloquium is for people who want to specialise in PADS-related topics, i.e. process mining or other approaches that combine process and data science. Be sure to read the Springer book "Process Mining: Data Science in Action" (ISBN: 978-3-662-49850-7) in detail and be prepared to answer technical questions about the PADS courses you have taken (e.g., build concrete models using data). The best time for the oral PADS in-depth colloquium is just before the Master's thesis. Students with lower grades in the BPI/APM/IDS courses are strongly advised to choose another in-depth colloquium or to prepare very well.
It is desired that students apply who would like to write their Master's thesis in our group.
The Depth Oral Colloquium should comprise at least three modules (comprising 12 - 18 credits). Two of them have to be PADS courses, i.e. Business Process Intelligence (BPI), Advanced Process Mining (APM), and Introduction to Data Science (IDS). Note that these should have been taken at the Master level (i.e., BPI should not be taken as a Bachelor course). The third module can be one more of these electives, or your seminar or practical lab topic organized by PADS.
Registering an Exam Date
Dates for the Depth Oral Colloquium need to be planned carefully. For requesting an exam slot, contact the PADS secretariat per firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject “Depth Oral Colloquium” (“Schwerpunkt-kolloquium”) and provide the following details:
- First name
- Last name
- Matriculation number
- Study program
- The planned courses to be examined
- If you are writing a Master thesis at our chair, then please mention your topic name and the advisor name
- Email address
- Mobile phone number
- Preferred time interval in which you would like to do the Depth Oral Colloquium
- Grades of the taken courses and relevant artifacts
- Motivation Letter
Please do so well in advance - availability of exam slots is limited and needs to be planned. Please also indicate the grades for the courses you took and provide all artifacts (reports, etc.) you created in these courses (next to the grades). Note that the courses, seminars, and labs are given by different people and that the content changes over time, so it is good to provide sufficient information. Without complete information, your request is not handled.
Assuming all is correct and complete, the PADS secretariat confirms the course combination subsequently and will offer you an exam slot.
